How do I get rid of under eye bags and dark circles?

The skin around the eye is very delicate and five-times thinner than the skin on the rest of the face, so it is no surprise that it needs special attention. Puffiness, dark circles and dehydration are some of the top concerns I hear from my clients, so I pulled together my top under eye remedies for you to follow:

Top 7 tips to reduce under eye puffiness and dark circles:

  1. Add a good eye cream to your morning and night routine – A good eye cream that covers all the bases is essential for both your morning and night routines. Modern eye cream formulations protect the eye area from the type of environmental damage that causes premature aging and they help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles. My personal favorite under eye cream is the Ante Age Eye Serum, which you can pick up on your next visit to Faces Clinical Skincare.

  2. Do this simple lymphatic drainage exercise every morning – Get into the habit of doing a gentle lymphatic drainage routine each morning to help move pooled lymph, which can be a factor causing puffiness and darkness under the eyes. After applying your eye cream, roll in gentle circles from the inner corners out to your temples and down the sides of your face/neck. Repeat this at least five times.

  3. Use an eye mask – Eye Masks are another great way to give the delicate eye area some extra love. Eye masks are great to do once or twice a week or before a special event. Hydrogel eye masks help deliver targeted ingredients into the skin and enhance hydration. I love the XO8 Revitalizing Eye Mask.

  4. Try microneedling – One of my favorite ways to treat the eye area at home is microneedling to stimulate new collagen. Using a shallow .25 depth roller or stamp tool twice a week is a very effective way to treat dark circles, puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles. When needling under the eye, be very gentle and work from the inner corner out to the temple both under the eye and along the brow bone. I use the Ante Age Home Microneedling Kit, which includes a roller tool and a growth factor solution.

  5. Keep a set of tools in your refrigerator – Another great way to soothe the eyes and reduce puffiness is to keep a set of cold tools in your refrigerator. Simply laying the cold tools over the eye area 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off for a few minutes can greatly improve a puffy eye area.

  6. Sleep propped up – Sleeping slightly propped can help prevent under eye puffiness and allows fluids to drain better instead of pooling in the eye area.

  7. Stay hydrated – Make sure to stay hydrated and limit salt intake to prevent dehydration, puffiness and dark circles.

Stop by Faces Clinical Skincare to pick-up the products mentioned above and book a microneedling appointment with us to see even better results. In-office treatments are a great way to enhance the improvements you’re making at home.
